UNIT 2 - Right Triangle Trigonometry
Appliction of A Right Triangle

MM2G2
Students will define and apply sine, cosine, and tangent ratios to right
triangles.
a. Discover the relationship of the trigonometric ratios for similar triangles.
b. Explain the relationship between the trigonometric ratios of complementary
angles.
c. Solve application problems using the trigonometric ratios.

PROBLEM SOLVING

We have a right trangle with a DC = 25 , BC = 5, and BD = X.
We are trying to solve for X.
The ratios we have are a hypotenuse of 25, and and adjacent side of 5.
We decide which to apply of cosine, sine, and tangent ratios.
We have decided the cosine would be the most apporopriate for the sides with data.
SOLVING:
Cosine (ð) - 5/25 = 0.2
Cosine -1 (5/25) = 78.4°.
